Will County Community Health Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jennifer Byrd says she’s quite proud of the CHC’s upcoming expansion to the Will County Health Department’s Monee location.

“When I began here at the CHC, we only had two locations of operation.  Our main building here in Joliet (1106 Neal Avenue), and our Mobile Medical Unit (which also operates as the CHC Mobile Dental Unit).  Now, we will have four locations.”

The CHC’s expansion of their services to the Health Department’s location in Bolingbrook at 323 Quadrangle Drive happened two summers ago, in August of 2017.  This latest location will be at 5601 W. Monee-Manhattan Road, where the Health Department already offers services from their Environmental Health, Family Health Services, and Behavioral Health Divisions.

Once the CHC is completely moved into the Monee location, they will be offering primary care for newborn babies, children, adolescents, and adults.  In addition, services will be offered in areas such as school and work physicals, childhood immunizations, chronic disease management, acute illness Care, and minor surgical procedures.  Referrals will also be available to the Joliet site for family planning services.

The Will County Community Health Center will soon be expanding more of their services to the Will County Health Department’s Eastern Branch Office, 5601 W Monee-Manhattan Road in Monee.

Dr. Byrd says that while everyone at the CHC is looking forward to expanding their services, it’s all just a matter now of getting everything in Monee finalized.  “As I sit here in Joliet, it’s basically all happening in a cloud above me,” Dr. Byrd said of all the anticipation.  “For one thing, we need to have our medical lab area completed.  But this is exciting for us, as we continue to be good stewards of what Federally Qualified Health Centers are all about: Growing and expanding our services to meet the needs of the communities in which we serve.”

The CHC has already partially established itself in Monee by taking appointments for their Behavioral Health providers for Tuesdays, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM.  For more on that, or other appointment information, please all the Community Health Center at 815-727-8670.
