As the new school year approaches, it is “get your immunizations up to date time” for school kids and their families.

Due to their volume of clients, the Will County Health Department’s Immunizations Office changed their policy to by-appointment about a year ago.  To make your appointment with WCHD Immunizations at 501 Ella Avenue, simply call 815-740-8143.

You can also use that number to make appointments at the Health Department’s Monee office (5601 W. Monee-Manhattan Road), or the Bolingbrook office (323 Quadrangle Drive).  Calls are taken by the appointment desk from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; 10 AM to 6 PM Wednesday, and 8 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday.

Immunizations Coordinator Lisa Carlson stated that “additional insurance coverages are now accepted for immunizations at the Will County Health Department so that pretty much anyone can receive immunizations.  If you have private insurance that covers shots, we recommend that you go to your private health care provider.”

All children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and are asked to bring their shots records.
