Due to the sharp reduction in COVID-19 positive cases in Will County, the movement from substantial community transmission to low community transmission, the increase in ICU bed availability, and the lifting of the mask mandate by Governor Pritzker, the Board of Health President has determined that meeting in person is both practical and prudent for all meetings of the will county board of health effective march 11, 2022.

First Human Case of West Nile Detected in Will County
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Will County.

The Will County Community Health Center is proud to celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW) 2024, taking place August 4-10.
Will County Health Department Opens New Milk Depot in Joliet, Illinois
Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes (Milk Bank WGL), and the Will County Health Department have partnered to bring a new human milk drop-off depot to Joliet, Illinois. This joint effort increases access for approved donors and families in the area to donate lifesaving, critical nutrition for pediatric patients in need. The grand opening will be on August 9, 2024.
First Bird and Additional Cases of Mosquitoes with West Nile Virus Detected in Will County
The Will County Health Department’s Environmental Health division announced that additional batches of mosquitoes and a dead bird have tested positive for West Nile virus [WNV]. Mosquitoes that tested positive for WNV have been found in Joliet, Homer Glen, Shorewood and Lockport. A dead bird that tested positive for WNV was found in Crest Hill.
