Will County Community Health Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jennifer Byrd says she’s quite proud of the CHC’s upcoming expansion to the Will County Health Department’s Monee location.

“When I began here at the CHC, we only had two locations of operation.  Our main building here in Joliet (1106 Neal Avenue), and our Mobile Medical Unit (which also operates as the CHC Mobile Dental Unit).  Now, we will have four locations.”

The CHC’s expansion of their services to the Health Department’s location in Bolingbrook at 323 Quadrangle Drive happened two summers ago, in August of 2017.  This latest location will be at 5601 W. Monee-Manhattan Road, where the Health Department already offers services from their Environmental Health, Family Health Services, and Behavioral Health Divisions.

The CHC has already partially established itself in Monee by taking appointments for their Behavioral Health providers.  The next step will now come on August 7th, when Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Michelle Axium will be available for appointments.  For appointment information, please all the Community Health Center at 815-727-8670.

As the Community Health Center continues to expand services into the Monee location, they also plan to be offering such services as school and work physicals, childhood immunizations, chronic disease management, acute illness care, and minor surgical procedures.  Referrals will also be available to the Joliet site for family planning services.

As of August 7th, the Will County Community Health Center will officially be offering Primary Care appointments at the Will County Health Department Eastern Branch Office in Monee.  You can call 815-727-8670 for appointment information.

CHC Chief Executive Officer Mary Maragos says many deserve credit for this expansion.  “Our new location is possible due to the overwhelming support of the Will County Board, and residents of Eastern Will County who reinforced the need for affordable high quality health care services in their area.  Services and hours will be added as needed.”

This is exciting for us,” said Dr Byrd.  “This allows us to continue to be good stewards of what Federally Qualified Health Centers are all about: Growing and expanding our services to meet the needs of the communities in which we serve.”

Also on August 7th, National Health Center Week will be celebrated at the CHC’s Monee location from 10 AM to 12 Noon.  The CHC’s Mobile Dental Unit will be available for dental examinations and oral health screenings.
