Due to the sharp reduction in COVID-19 positive cases in Will County, the movement from substantial community transmission to low community transmission, the increase in ICU bed availability, and the lifting of the mask mandate by governor Pritzker, the board of health president has determined that meeting in person is both practical and prudent for all meetings of the will county board of health effective march 11, 2022.
First Human Case of West Nile Virus Detected in Will County 2026
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Will County. A 51-year-old person from Will County has tested positive for West Nile Virus after developing symptoms in the second week of August. The individual has not required hospitalization and is recovering. The Will County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division has also reported that mosquito batches in seven different Will County communities have tested positive for WNV this summer.
Will County Community Health Center To Celebrate National Health Center Week
Every August, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors National Health Center Week (NHCW) to celebrate and increase awareness of America’s 1,500 Community Health Centers (CHCs) and the essential role they play in improving public health and providing Americans equal opportunity to access critical healthcare services.
