Parents Urged to Schedule Physicals Now

JOLIET, IL – The Will County Community Health Center (WCCHC) has announced that they are offering free same day school and sports physicals with a COVID-19 Vaccination for children age 12 and up at their Joliet office, 1106 Neal Avenue.

“We want to make it easy for parents to get their children vaccinated as well as get their school and sports physicals,” said Sue Olenek, Executive Director of the Will County Health Department (WCHD).  “We encourage all parents to schedule their appointments now.”

While it is not unusual to have the problem of some families waiting until the last minute for school physicals and immunizations, this year could be even more of a burden due to all of the pandemic challenges of 2020.

WCCHC Chief Executive Officer Mary Maragos agrees with the urgency that is needed, especially with many students returning to in-person schooling this fall.  “It’s human nature to put off something until the deadline draws near,” said Maragos.  “When it comes to scheduling school physicals, delaying can put a child at risk for not getting a timely appointment.  We urge parents to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.”
