The Will County Board of Health will hold its regular meeting on November 16, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in person at 501 Ella Ave, (Joliet, IL 60433) in conference room 1005A/1005B.
Will County Health Department Investigating E. coli Cases Possibly Linked to Local Pumpkin Farm
The Will County Health Department is investigating five laboratory confirmed cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) that may be connected to visits to Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm in Homer Glen. The Health Department is working to identify how the infections occurred and whether there is a common source.
First Human Case of West Nile Virus Detected in Will County 2026
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Will County. A 51-year-old person from Will County has tested positive for West Nile Virus after developing symptoms in the second week of August. The individual has not required hospitalization and is recovering. The Will County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division has also reported that mosquito batches in seven different Will County communities have tested positive for WNV this summer.
